Pregnancy Update
Doctor's App the 13th with Stickley (32 Weeks)
We finally were able to meet the last doctor (there are 3ish who could help us deliver our baby) at the practice today! Her name is Emily Stickley and she seemed really nice. This was a pretty relaxed appointment--his heartbeat was 145 bpm and he was hiccuping while Dr. Stickley was getting his heartbeat! It felt like a rhythmic pulse and was even noticeable to Randy from the outside! He really has been moving so much and from what Stickley could feel she said his head was down but not fully engaged yet. He also measured (fundal height) right on schedule at 32 cm. I was pretty proud when she told me my ankles looked great--pretty much no swelling thanks to my walks and stretching (my "hard" work is paying off). I weighed in at 179 lbs (37 lbs total).

In other baby news we are happy to finally have picked a doula! Her name is Melani Sunia and we are elated to have her help!

Humanity Restored!
With all the craziness happening around us it can be easy to feel like everyone kind of sucks and only cares about serving their own interests. Well when I was in town for work at the Ala Moana mall I was getting ready to leave when my car would not start. I wasn't really that alarmed and just figured I needed a jump. I asked these two girls who were reluctant but helped anyway. After charging the car for about 10 minutes I tried to turn it on and nothing! Ok--this is when I started to freak out. In that moment I felt so far from home and not sure who could help me (Randy was working). I called him and started to cry a little when this scruffy looking dude and his girlfriend pulled up and asked if I needed help. I explained how I had already tried to charge the battery with no luck but he asked if he could check it out and of course I said yes. He jiggled my battery around and it started right away!! I was overjoyed and gave him a big hug. I am so grateful for this stranger who took the time to notice me in my time of need and help.

Released from YW
This was my last month spent with the young women for church. All of us leaders were released and it felt weird! In some ways I am grateful for the additional time I have, especially with a baby approaching but I do miss being one of their leaders and interacting with them each week through church and activities.
Our last Sunday together as a group
Work Baby Shower
My last day of work was the 29th of this month. My work peeps were so thoughtful and threw me a little baby shower, Friday the 28th. It was a total surprise, they had me go to a meeting so they could get everything ready in the dayroom. I cried a little because I  just felt so much love and support from these amazing people! We even played a few fun games together (i.e.; pin the binky on the baby).

Surfing at Lani's
Randy broke his short board and I stepped on a sea urchin when we went surfing at Lani's (I was 31 weeks). This was the last time I surfed before giving birth. I caught a few waves (2) and it was quite a paddle for me. I have continued to love doing yoga with my friend Alex from work. She is almost a month behind me and it has been so fun to go through this pregnancy journey together. We even went maternity clothes shopping together earlier this month.

SEPTEMBER 2016

Pregnancy Update
This month I hit the third trimester (week 28)--woo hoo! I am in the homestretch and I definitely feel bigger. At the end of this month I weighed around 176 lbs--I have gained 34 lbs so far. We finally finished our last Bradley birthing class on the 12th of this month and it ended with a tour of Castle. Randy and I did a tour with them months ago but it was nice to see the rooms again and become a little more familiar with where I will be giving birth. On the 19th I had a doctor's appointment with Dr. Song and we went over my labs--my HbA1c was 4.6%, my eAG was 85 and my fasting blood glucose was 78--so yay for me no gestational diabetes! I was glad we could do these blood tests rather than drink that nasty concoction. Baby's heart rate was 150 bpm so things are continuing to look good!

Surfing in Town
On the 6th Randy and I went into town and surfed with our friends, Jeremy, Bree and their sweet little boy Jet who was born in May of this year. This was such a fun day! I got a few weird looks for surfing with my preggy belly but I had a "special" technique so I could paddle on my board without smooshing my belly. We caught small and gentle waves at Queens Beach in Waikiki. This was the first time I had ever surfed in town and I fell in love!

Look at that happy face!
Practicing :)
30 Weeks at Sunset Beach
Randy and I went for an evening swim with Chris and Jill at Sunset. The water was heavenly and it felt so good to bob around! We stayed for the sunset and then walked back home. This is me one day away from 30 weeks (the 24th of September).

Baby Shower Time
This was such a fun night!  The girls painted my belly and made me this sweet dream catcher while expressing their wishes for me during this pregnancy and birth. I really wish I would have taken a group photo of everyone but I was a little busy getting my belly painted and eating my favorite coconut mint chocolate chip ice cream that Lezlie specifically bought for me! They also made affirmation rocks that I will take to the birthing center. I feel very grateful for my friends who came and made this night special for me. I felt so much love from these women and was eager to hear all their stories and experiences about birth and raising babies--I kind of felt like crying a couple times but in a content and happy way. In my head I kept thinking, "This is my tribe!"

The Andersons Visit Oahu
Randy's good friends, Matt, Yvonne, and their 4 sweet kids came to visit! Their twin daughters were baptized (on the 25th) and we were able to go! During their stay we got to spend one solid day hiking Hamama Falls and swimming at Castles. At one point we got together with a couple friends and played Farkle at the Lee's and socialized till we were all too tired to function.
