Pregnancy Updates
I had my first appointment with Mari Stewart my amazing midwife. We went to her house in Kaneohe and she spent over an hour with us going over everything. I am so stoked about doing a home birth this time!! I actually almost had Ezra at her house because she was nice enough to let me labor in birth cottage bc she lives 10 minutes away from the hospital. Since we had not planned to do a home birth she said I needed to let them know when I felt like pushing so they could get me to Castle. I stalled a little--unsure of the sensation but then I soon realized the urge to push was overwhelming. We rushed to the hospital and I had Ezra within 20 minutes of arriving. I loved how she handled everything along with my doula Melanie and so they are both going to be there for baby #2.

I'm slowly feeling better but still am quite tired/low energy. Listening to my body and not pushing myself too hard is what I've been currently striving for...especially in regards to physical activity. We decided not to find out what we are having until the sweet baby is born. But luckily, we have more than enough names for both to pick from.

House Updates
So we are in escrow! I've been eyeing the least expensive house in Waialua for quite some time (over 2 years) which just also happens to be perfect for us in almost every way! I am nervous about getting too excited because I just want to make sure everything goes smooth and wait till it is official (April 22nd) but man I am so pumped!! I never thought we would get the chance to live in Waialua. It is seriously one of my favorite places on Oahu. Because I grew up in a small town I LOVE that is has more of a country feel and is off the beaten path. The super cool thing about Waialua though is that is it also close to things like grocery stores, they have a bike path, close to the beach (5 min drive), the school even has a gym and a pool (although it needs to be fixed). Anyway, I could go on and on. I have always felt this would be an incredible place to raise a family. But for now we are jumping through all the hoops (home inspection, paperwork, more paperwork, meetings with agent). Also I am not gonna lie--45 days seems like an ETERNITY for escrow but good things come to those who wait right?!

Other Happenings
Randy turned 42 this year! We celebrated at home as a family. I made him his absolute favorite pizza and brownies with ice cream. He's pretty easy to please. Our friends Lezlie and  Ethan came to visit briefly on their trip out here. They used to live here but moved to Idaho less than a year ago. We also got to visit with Randy's mission president and some of his family (the Lyons). We met up at Kualoa Beach Park and ate at 7 Brothers together.

I am new to being in relief society as a calling for church but I really like it. We just did our ministering interviews which is just a fancy way of saying that we are trying to see how everyone is doing and if anyone is in need of help or support. I usually hate scheduling things like this but after doing them I felt so much love for my sisters in our branch. God really does care so much about us as His children. The bishop storehouse orders were also something very new to me. I know people can receive help with food but I never knew how it really worked. I helped complete some orders for a couple families and I was impressed with how much food and non food items were offered to people in need.

February 2019

This was somewhat of a quiet month for us but at the same time big changes are approaching for our family. With being in the first trimester (week 10) I am feeling more sick this time around than I did with Ezra. Some people say it's because I am having a girl and others tell me that each pregnancy tends to get harder. I am not sure which side I believe but despite the sickness and fatigue I am so happy to be pregnant! With the windy/rainy weather and beaches full of massive monster waves Ezra and I have slowed down as far as activity goes. Randy is hardcore and can surf in the big waves so no slowing down for him--probably helps not being pregnant too :)

The big undertaking we are working towards is home ownership. I never thought this could become a reality for us here in Hawaii but with some encouragement from our peeps and saving as much as we can we have decided to take the leap! Nothing big has happened yet but we did meet with a mortgage broker again. We met with her about 6 months ago and since we didn't have credit cards we didn't have a credit score which we learned was pretty critical for your loan (who knew you couldn't possibly be considered a fiscally responsible member of society with JUST a debit card--you know that one card where you actually have to have money in your account to use it unlike the superior credit card) so we convinced some credit card companies we were worthy of their oh so special cards and used them for a while and then met with her again this month. I am cheeky about this whole credit score/card system but I rolled with it because at the end of the day we do want to borrow money so you gotta play by their rules--even if you think their rules are a little lame.

For Valentine's Day we went to California Pizza Kitchen as a family. Ezra was really well behaved which I guess was surprising bc we don't really eat out and witness him in that setting. It rained a ton this day and we ended the evening by watching Fiddler on the Roof. Randy showed me this movie for the first time months ago and I have grown to love it--TRADITION!! Also who knew that funky, punk rock Gwen Stefani got her inspiration from a Jewish dad living in Russia in the 1900's.

We enjoyed ourselves but I am becoming a little disenchanted with restaurants. I noticed their (CPK's) portions are getting smaller and the food tasted ok--nothing spectacular for the amount of money we paid. Our friends decided to splurge in a different way and bought some amazing cuts of meat and dessert from that fancy, romantic place called the grocery store. They prepared a V-Day feast much better than ours and spent probably half of what we did. Yes it is nice to eat food you don't need to prepare yourself but I want to try and do more on special occasions like our friends and splurge at the grocery store and not a restaurant that charges you up the wazoo!
