AUGUST 2016

Pregnancy Update
Randy and I met Dr. Mari Stewart for the first time at Starbucks who runs Birthedright Babies. I asked her a bunch of questions and loved how she viewed birth and pregnancy. We decided to take her birthing classes in Kaneohe this month on Mondays. It felt crazy to think of going to ANOTHER birthing class but it seemed like it could be very beneficial for us--plus it was free and they feed you amazing food! After attending the classes I have to say that I actually felt like we got more out of these free classes than we did with the Bradley class which cost a pretty penny! I do believe both are beneficial but I was absolutely amazed by Mari's class and really felt like things were clicking for me. She would check the position of your baby at the end of class if you asked her and was so willing to help answer any questions we had. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this class--to be honest if it wasn't so far away I would go again just for the heck of it (don't worry I won't put Randy through that).

We also had an appointment with Dr. Song again and baby boy Saunders seems to be doing well! They asked me to get the glucose screening test and I asked if I could get my A1c checked instead and they agreed so I didn't have to drink that nasty sugary thing!

In other big news, we got AC this month and it has saved my life! The summer has been brutal with the humidity and I was really struggling to sleep. Once the AC was put in I have been sleeping like a baby. So grateful for our landlords who let us get it!

Also, for exercise I have been trying to walk for about an hour a day if I can. I usually listen to some baby/preggy podcasts and walk to my favorite quiet spot or the bike path. Here is a picture of me when I went on a walk with my good neighbor and friend, Tiffany and her sweet dog Tyson. We went on a beach walk and took a quick dip to cool off on the way home.

 Moser Family Visit
Randy's cousin Jamie and her sweet family came to Hawaii to have their daughter Marlee be baptized! Jamie did this for her son, Vance earlier when he turned 8 as well. I loved visiting with them! We went to their beach house in Hau'ula and had dinner together. Baby Bruno is the cutest little boy! One of the days we got to take Carol (Randy's aunt) snorkeling for her first time at Three Tables with Heidi. We also took her to Kahuku Farms. During their trip, the Mosers were able to go visit Randy at work and check out the fire station.

JULY 2016

Pregnancy Update
Well it is official--we are having a BOY!!! I felt like everything kept pointing to a boy--even my dreams! Randy and I are pumped! We went in on the 6th of this month to the Fetal Diagnostic Institute where they did the big daddy ultrasound and imaging (I was 18 weeks). The doc said everything looked great and that his growth was a little ahead of schedule. I also found out my placenta is attached in the front (I guess it is more common to be in the back). It was surreal to see him moving around so much! All I could think was, "Oh my gosh--there is actually a little life growing inside of me!"

I had an app with Dr. Moore at week 19 and she said everything looked good too! On the 26th I felt and saw him kick for the first time! I had felt his movements before this but never witnessed my stomach physically move!

I started a prenatal yoga class with my friend Alex. She is almost exactly a month behind me! It's been so cool exploring pregnancy with a friend who is going through very similar changes or has similar concerns and questions--especially since we are both first time mommas!

Other Happenings
For the 4th we watched the fireworks with Chris and Jill and ate yummy BBQ.
Random
At one point Randy and I rode our bikes to Keiki Beach and met our friends (the Hanks) and they brought their baby Jet! This was his first time in the ocean. Recently, I made this amazing Fijian curry with butternut squash instead of pumpkin. We ate it with rice and it was sooo good! For work I had to come up with a game to play at our LDI at Turtle Bay. I chose to put together a Jeopardy style PowerPoint game and it was so fun--the winners got movie tickets.

I had Jackfruit for the first time in my life---it tasted like juicy fruit gum!

JUNE 2016

Girls Camp
The girls had a blast! We did camp with the whole stake this year. They played games, went hiking, swimming, did camp certification skills, skits, sang songs, had devotionals, testimony meetings, and ate some really yummy food!

I did a million of these!
Hawaiian Humane Society Event
For work I put on a little event for the patients/residents and whoever else wanted to come. The Hawaiian Humane Society brought multiple of their volunteers and animals to spread a little joy. Randy and our friends Jenny and Zach helped with face painting.

Pregnancy Update and my 28th Birthday
Went to my second appointment on my birthday! I am 14 weeks and have broke into the second trimester! During the app baby's heartbeat was 150 bpm. Everyone thinks I am having a boy---I don't think I have had one person guess it is a girl yet! My nausea has pretty much lifted at this point and my energy has returned! My body is definitely getting warmer and it's making it harder to sleep soundly. I got a few nice gifts for my b-day from family and friends and my mom sent a funny poem she wrote--Randy and I were laughing so hard as we read it. Randy got me a sweet body pillow I will start using when I get a little bigger and we went to a movie in the theater (big deal for us). He took me to a chick flick (Me before You). To be honest, I didn't like the message of the movie but it was still fun to go! We ate at my favorite food place--Beet Box Cafe and I made a raw vegan banana cream pie that is to die for!!

We also decided to give birth at Castle Medical Center in Kailua. They are very supportive on natural birth and have birthing tubs! We went on the birthing center tour and felt really good about it. We also started the Bradley Birthing class which is at Castle as well. It's kind of a long class (12 in total at 2 hours each) but usually the more information I take in about something new the more at ease I feel about it. Sometimes I overplan on things I am nervous about but I'd rather be too prepared (is that possible?) that under prepared!

Sabrina and David Come Visit
We did a lot while they were here. Hiked Crouching Lion, swam a bunch, Randy taught Sabrina to surf, boogie boarded, biked to beach, ate Ted's pie, watched sunsets, had a bonfire, made Thai food together, and went to Pearl Harbor (my first time)!
