MARCH & APRIL 2016

MARCH
Becoming Parents
I started noticing slight changes changes in my body (raised basal body temp, sore boobs, and feeling SO tired) the last 2 weeks of this month--March. On the 26th I was at a youth activity and I remember looking down at the grass and wanting to lie down and go to sleep (it was 7pm--I tend to be a night owl). I knew in that moment I was feeling very different. As soon as I got home that night I took a pregnancy test and sure enough it was positive! I was so excited I could barely sleep that night and Randy was at work so I couldn't tell him till the next day when he got home! The next day (the 27th) I took another test and it was positive again! Could this really finally be happening?! When Randy came home I left the two pregnancy tests on the bedroom counter and showed him. He almost seemed like he couldn't believe it either. We were both so happy but didn't want to jinx ourselves till it was truly proven by a blood test. On the 31st I did just that at work and Dr. Hughes came to tell me personally while I was working and delivered the good news, "You are definitely pregnant!"

This is what I showed Randy when he came home from work

Kahiti's Funeral
Kahiti Kuhia passed away on January 31st, 2016 in Kahuku, she was 79. Her funeral took place on March 5th in Laie. I was invited by her niece (Viviana) to help with some of the prior preparations and the funeral. These are some photos of her during her performing days. She was a feisty lady full of spunk!

Young Women Hike Sunset Pillbox
These girls are hilarious! Once we got to the top of the pillboxes everyone was ready to strike a pose!

Randy's 39th Birthday
This man is so dang simple! He specifically tells me he just wants to enjoy the day and go to Nadia's gymnastics class so that is exactly what we did! At least I made him a card promising pizza. We were able to hang out with his old fire buddy (Griff Briem) from Utah and his wife (Lisa). Went boogie boarding at Gas Chambers and then Randy took Griff to Puena Point to surf. Unfortunately, the waves were a little too small for much surfing but we had a fun time hanging out. That evening Randy and I took took our accumulated Costco boxes (some that used to be our old coffee table) and had a bonfire with sweet Samoa

Other Happenings
Jake Garvin and I
Randy and I went to our first VSH (Vegetarian Society of Hawaii) lecture in town. We are not hardcore vegetarians but I love attempting to be at times. ha This guy gave a cool presentation called What Diet is Best for Fitness, Health, Athletes and Running a Marathon?

April
Pregnancy Update
I HAVE to eat as soon as I wake up. I am beginning to feel nauseous but once I eat I feel better. I feel the need for more rest--I get sleepy in the early evening. Carbs are hitting the spot big time---toast, crackers, rice, oatmeal, etc. Randy and I rode our bikes to North Shore Tacos and that night I threw up. Not sure if it was the food or pregnancy nausea. I had an interesting dream that I wrote about in my journal here it is from April 6th:

"I had a dream last night about this little child that came up to me and had no warm clothes. We were at some big sporting event and I was sitting on the bleachers in a big puffy coat. When this child came up to me I unzipped my coat, put him on my lap with his head against my chest and I pulled the big jacket over him---it seemed to be a boy from what I can remember."

Annual KMC Party
Randy and I got fancy and went to my work party at Turtle Bay. It was SO fun! Randy and I were brave and volunteered for the sing off game boys versus girls---the girls won of course! We danced a little, chatted, and ate some really good food.
My hot date ;)
