February 2019

This was somewhat of a quiet month for us but at the same time big changes are approaching for our family. With being in the first trimester (week 10) I am feeling more sick this time around than I did with Ezra. Some people say it's because I am having a girl and others tell me that each pregnancy tends to get harder. I am not sure which side I believe but despite the sickness and fatigue I am so happy to be pregnant! With the windy/rainy weather and beaches full of massive monster waves Ezra and I have slowed down as far as activity goes. Randy is hardcore and can surf in the big waves so no slowing down for him--probably helps not being pregnant too :)

The big undertaking we are working towards is home ownership. I never thought this could become a reality for us here in Hawaii but with some encouragement from our peeps and saving as much as we can we have decided to take the leap! Nothing big has happened yet but we did meet with a mortgage broker again. We met with her about 6 months ago and since we didn't have credit cards we didn't have a credit score which we learned was pretty critical for your loan (who knew you couldn't possibly be considered a fiscally responsible member of society with JUST a debit card--you know that one card where you actually have to have money in your account to use it unlike the superior credit card) so we convinced some credit card companies we were worthy of their oh so special cards and used them for a while and then met with her again this month. I am cheeky about this whole credit score/card system but I rolled with it because at the end of the day we do want to borrow money so you gotta play by their rules--even if you think their rules are a little lame.

For Valentine's Day we went to California Pizza Kitchen as a family. Ezra was really well behaved which I guess was surprising bc we don't really eat out and witness him in that setting. It rained a ton this day and we ended the evening by watching Fiddler on the Roof. Randy showed me this movie for the first time months ago and I have grown to love it--TRADITION!! Also who knew that funky, punk rock Gwen Stefani got her inspiration from a Jewish dad living in Russia in the 1900's.

We enjoyed ourselves but I am becoming a little disenchanted with restaurants. I noticed their (CPK's) portions are getting smaller and the food tasted ok--nothing spectacular for the amount of money we paid. Our friends decided to splurge in a different way and bought some amazing cuts of meat and dessert from that fancy, romantic place called the grocery store. They prepared a V-Day feast much better than ours and spent probably half of what we did. Yes it is nice to eat food you don't need to prepare yourself but I want to try and do more on special occasions like our friends and splurge at the grocery store and not a restaurant that charges you up the wazoo!
