July 2018

Randy has been working so hard the past few months accepting a lot of OT. I have a love/hate relationship with overtime. It is nice to have extra cash but man I miss Randy like crazy after a few days! The fireman's schedule is pretty epic overall because when Randy is home he gets to be with us and see Ezra throughout the entire day and not just the last few hours before bed. I also can't complain about Randy's work ethic. I tend to be the bad influence and say "Oh you're fine, you don't need to work more." But since we have financial goals we are aiming to accomplish I am trying to be more supportive of OT!

Although Randy has been working a lot we definitely played too. The 4th of July was so fun! We met up with friends at Gas Chambers and were able to eat lots of watermelon, swim, jump on an inflatable water trampoline (Ezra), and even surf a couple baby waves! In the evening we bypassed fireworks but had dinner with Chris and Jill in the backyard. Ezra slept very well that night :)

During this month we also went stand up paddle-boarding with Chris and Jill. They have been going 3 times a week and are getting good! Ezra loved being on the boards and swimming back and forth between Randy and I.

Ezra also went to a guy's church activity to shoot guns and judging by the pictures he had a blast! Randy said Ezra was pretty good about keeping his ear plugs in and after the first few shots he got used to the guns going off. I was also impressed with Randy's target paper he brought home!

Multiple women in our branch had babies this month. Sadly, many are suffering from ranging health complications so send your heartfelt prayers and good vibes their way. Our church relief society usually sets up meals for those who would like and need it and all of these mama's definitely need support (we all do at different times in our lives). I decided to make Pani Popo (aka a Samoan treat made with amazing sweet rolls and a delicious coconut sauce) as a dessert for a meal I dropped off and I have to say they were SOOOO good!

Finally, we are bummed to see the Lee family leave! We had a girl's night to say goodbye to Lezlie at Alii's at the end of this month. Lezlie is an amazing woman and was truly my first friend on this island! She was so kind to me right from the start and instantly started inviting me to everything and for that I am eternally grateful. Without her I am pretty sure my acclimation to Hawaii would have been much more challenging and lonely!
